This 30th issue of AutoRicerca is entirely dedicated to the work of Joel Kramer and Diana Alstad, who analyze power dynamics in social, religious, and cultural systems. Combining philosophy, psychology, and social analysis, they expose oppressive structures, questioning patriarchy, authoritarianism, and distortions of spirituality. In their book “The Guru Papers: Masks of Authoritarian Power” (of which this volume presents the translation of 10 chapters), they denounce the abuse of power in religious traditions and in the guru-disciple relationship, showing how submission is often disguised as spiritual growth. Their approach promotes conscious individualism and a freer view of relationships and spirituality.
